How It Works
FillFight is a live tug‑of‑war art project. Each game is built on a simple mechanic: fill the board with your side’s color one spot at a time. Spots are sold for $1 each; all proceeds support the maintenance of the project and its hosting costs. Here’s how it all comes together:
- Pick your side. Each matchup pits two teams against one another. Choose the side you’d like to support.
- Buy spots. Spots cost $1 each and can only be purchased for one team per transaction. When you buy spots, they immediately reveal your team’s color on the game board.
- Edge to center. Spots fill from the edge towards the center. Before the teams collide, the left side expands inward from the left edge and the right side from the right edge.
- Collision and tug‑of‑war. Once the two paths meet, every new spot pushes the frontier one cell into the opponent’s territory, overwriting their color.
- Winning a round. When one team fills the entire board, they win the round and earn a point on the scoreboard. Any excess spots beyond the last cell carry forward into the next round.
- Instant updates. The game is powered by a lightweight PHP backend and Server‑Sent Events (SSE). Your browser stays up to date with the latest board state, trash talk, and scores without needing to refresh.
- Fair play & fun. This is a neutral, non‑partisan art experiment. There are no political endorsements or affiliations. Purchases are not donations or campaign contributions; they’re purely for entertainment and to cover our hosting costs.
